DUNCAN — A Jeep out of gas on the side of the road led to the arrests of a Lawton woman who, investigators said, was caught in a set of hot wheels.
Cynthia Caylin Tiger, 26, made her initial appearance Friday in Stephens County District Court for a felony count of possession of a stolen vehicle, records indicate.
Stephens County Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel Carroll was on patrol shortly after noon Jan. 4 when he stated he saw a Jeep Patriot on the north shoulder of Oklahoma 7, just east of 7-Mile Road. Its flashers were on and appeared to be broken down so, the deputy stated, he stopped.
Tiger, who was in the driver’s seat, and another woman were inside the Jeep with the seats reclined and appeared to be asleep, Carroll stated. When asked if they had help on the way, Tiger said they’d run out of gas and roadside assistance was en route, the probable cause affidavit states. Carroll then left.
The deputy ran the Jeep’s information and learned it had been stolen from Lawton, the affidavit states. Carroll returned and found the Jeep still on the shoulder and the couple inside and detained them. Carroll learned Tiger has an outstanding warrant out of Pottawatomie County and the other woman has an outstanding warrant issued by the Tecumseh Police Department
During inventory of the Jeep, several debit and credit cards not belonging to the women were found as well as a glass pipe used for drug use, Carroll stated. According to the affidavit, the pipe tested for methamphetamines, heroin/opiates and cocaine.
The Jeep was impounded, and it was learned Tiger’s mother is married to the vehicle’s owner. A pair of dogs in the vehicle were taken to the Stephens County Humane Society.
Held on $100,000 bond, Tiger returns to court at 9 a.m. March 27 for her preliminary hearing conference, records indicate.
