COMANCHE — A hay bale in the roadway is blamed for a Sunday night wreck in Stephens County that sent a man to the hospital.
Dan Skeens, 58, of Comanche, was admitted to Duncan Regional Hospital in good condition with leg injuries, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. His passenger, Tina Skeens, 57, of Comanche, was not injured.
Dan Skeens was attempting to clear a round bale of hay from the roadway on U.S. 81, around 1 mile north of Comanche, shortly before 8:15 p.m. Sunday when a GMC Sierra driven by Gage Hayes hit the bale, causing it to strike Dan Skeens, Trooper Amy Bell reported.
Hayes, 33, of Ardmore, was not injured.
The wreck shut down the roadway for just over 20 minutes, according to the report.
Bell reported the cause of the hay bale in the roadway and, thus, the collision remains under investigation.
