MEDICINE PARK – Fans of the iconic Harley-Davidson motorcycles will soon have a new place to get their gear in southwest Oklahoma.
Bobby Callahan, general manager of Diamondback Harley-Davidson in Lawton, told Southwest Chronicle that they are excited about the opening of their smaller, merchandise-oriented shop at 162 East Lake Drive, in Medicine Park’s business district.
Callahan explained that shortly after store owner Willie Sullivan took over Diamondback in 2019, he visited Medicine Park and was overwhelmed by all the traffic and visitors in the popular tourist town.
“I said, ‘We need to put a Harley shop here,’” Callahan said. Sullivan agreed and the plans were soon set in motion.
Callahan said, talking to a lot of motorcycle enthusiasts in Medicine Park, many of them come from all over Oklahoma not knowing that Diamondback is just minutes away in Lawton.
With a remodeled space next to the White Buffalo Trading Post, the Diamondback Harley-Davidson shop is expected to open around Aug. 20. There will be mostly Motorclothes brand and logoed H-D merchandise as well as motor oil and related inventory.
Additionally, adjacent to the new shop will be a restaurant called Bootleggers which will focus on quick fare like pizza and sub sandwiches. The restaurant will not be directly linked to the Wisconsin-based motorcycle company, he said.
“The town has been very welcoming,” Callahan said of Medicine Park.
Although a date has yet to be determined, Callahan said a soft opening may come before the grand opening of the merchandise outlet.
