Geronimo High School athletics raising money with golf scramble

Geronimo High School Athletics, along with Geronimo FCA, will host its annual golf scramble on Monday, June 10, at the Fort Sill Golf Club.

The tournament will raise funds for Geronimo athletics for the upcoming school year. Teams will tee off at 8:30 a.m. and last into the afternoon until all teams are finished.

Money raised in the tournament will go toward anything and everything from maintenance on the softball and baseball fields all the way to new uniforms for the school’s various programs, according to a press release.

“It’s a big fundraiser for small school athletics … we could see around $3,000-$4,000,” said ournament Director Steve Mallow.

Geronimo High School Athletics will accept donations of all kinds during the tournament, but they are actively looking for hole sponsors and team sponsors. There are three different tiers of sponsorship for the event: gold, silver, and bronze.

Gold sponsors will get an advertisement on a hole, get their entry fees paid for, and four golf shirts for $550. Silver costs $350 and sponsors will get an advertisement on a hole and get their fees paid for; bronze will receive an advertisement on a hole for $100.

According to Mallow, there are around 20 four-man teams already signed up and they still have a few spots open. Participants will need a visitors pass for Fort Sill prior to the event starting.

Participants will receive goody bags and there will be door prizes given away at the end of the tournament. Lunch will be provided for golfers.

Contests include seeing who can get their ball closest to the pin and a contest for the longest drive for both men and women.

Pre-registration forms must be turned in by June 3, but you can still register until 8 a.m. the morning of the tournament. The price to play without a sponsorship is $55 per person or $220 as a team. Green fee and cart fees are included in those prices.
