FORT SILL, OK — Specialist Nicholas Chavez, 32, a Logistics Specialist with E Battery, 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade, died Jan. 3 after being rushed to an Oklahoma City hospital for complications from an illness.
“We are saddened by the loss of a teammate,” Lt. Col. Christopher Garnett, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Air Defense Artillery commander, said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the family, loved ones and fellow Eagles Dare Soldiers during this difficult time.”
The unit is planning a memorial service at 2:45 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Cache Creek Chapel on Fort Sill.
