A former Lawton Correctional Facility inmate already serving time for murder received a life sentence for the June 2021 beating death of his cellmate.
On Wednesday, Allen Wayne Christian, 41, pleaded guilty to a count of first-degree murder in Comanche County District Court.
Comanche County Presiding Judge Emmit Tayloe sentenced Christian to serve a life sentence with the possibility of parole along with $1,392.96 in restitution and $3,187.90 in court costs and fines.
Christian’s sentence is to be served consecutively with his August 2007 conviction in Wagoner County Court for second-degree murder. He received a 40-year sentence for the the June 2006 stabbing death of Rose Conklin, 57.
The latest conviction follows the beating death of Inman James Jr., 66, the morning of June 13, 2021. Christian told investigators he assaulted his older cellmate after James attempted to blackmail him into sex because of his “bi-sexual lifestyle.”
James was taken to OU Medical in Oklahoma City where he was admitted in critical condition. He suffered facial fractures and multiple brain bleeds along with respiratory failure, according to the affidavit. He died 11 days later on June 24, 2021.
Christian, who had been held at the Lawton prison since November 2007 has since been transferred to the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester, according to Oklahoma Department of Corrections records.
