A former Eisenhower High School teacher/coach is in jail on $30,000 bond for allegations he had an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Nieko “Nicko” Miranda, 43, of Lawton, made his initial appearance Thursday in Comanche County district Court for a felony count of sexual battery, records indicate. The crime is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Miranda is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with an 18-year-old student who played on the girl’s volleyball team he coached. The girl’s mother contacted Lawton police on Feb. 7 after she discovered her daughter had been staying at Miranda’s house, the warrant affidavit states.
Police conducted a digital analysis of the teen’s phone and discovered messages between Miranda and the teen dated from November 2023 to Feb. 11, the affidavit states. Detective Marcus Rucker stated the messages are “explicit” between the teacher and student.
Miranda was a computer science teacher and head girls volleyball coach at Eisenhower High School since being hired in June 2022, according to Miranda’s social media post. He is no longer employed by Lawton Public Schools.
As part of Miranda’s bond conditions, he is to have no contact with the teen, shall not work at any school or be on any school property and not violate any laws. Records indicate he returns to court at 1 p.m. June 14 for his preliminary hearing.
