A bid by the former Geronimo High School principal accused of assaulting a student in March 2022 to have his charge dismissed was ruled against Wednesday.
Instead, he is now slated to go to trial before a Comanche County jury in January 2024.
Heath Ryan Selcer, 42, of Geronimo, made his initial appearance April 9, 2022, in Comanche County District Court where entered a plea of not guilty to the misdemeanor count of assault and battery, records indicate.
Following Wednesday’s hearing to dismiss, Special District Judge Susan Zwaan ordered Selcer return to court at 9 a.m. Jan. 22, 2024, for his jury trial in the matter.
Selcer is accused of getting into an argument with a student in March 2022 and slamming the student’s laptop computer shut on his fingers.
Following the initial court filing, Selcer has since been terminated from his position with Geronimo Public Schools.
Selcer has been free on a $1,000 own recognizance bond following his initial court appearance on April 6, 2022.
