Former Flower Mount PTO treasurer wanted for embezzlement

A former treasurer of the Flower Mound Parent Teacher Organization (FMPTO) is wanted for allegations she embezzled over $21,000 from the organization for personal credit card payments.

The Comanche County District Court issued a felony arrest warrant Friday for Brigitte Bianca Joyce Sharp, 43, of Lawton, for a count of embezzlement, records indicate. The crime is punishable by up to eight years in prison, a fine up to $10,000 and restitution.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) Captain Brenna Alvarez stated she began looking into the theft in August 2022 when she spoke with Comanche County Sheriff’s Detective Chad Kenyon, who had gathered information after a report Sharp, the former FMPTO treasurer, had embezzled the money between Dec. 16, 2015, to Jan. 3, 2017. Bank statements showed funds from the FMPTO were used to pay off Sharp’s ex-husband’s credit card with Citibank, the warrant affidavit states.

An audit was then requested and was completed in October 2024. The audit uncovered 18 payments with identical amounts and dates that were made to the ex-husband’s Citibank credit card, Alvarez stated. The payments were made to Beach Body Fitness, Lane Bryant, Country Lace Boutique, Fubar Saloon, Cork Cap & Brew, Proactive Kiosk and others that totaled $21,513.71, the affidavit states.

Sharp’s ex-husband told Alvarez Sharp had applied for a credit card in his name without his permission and he didn’t know the account existed until 2019 due to learning his credit score had dropped, according to the affidavit. He said he confronted Sharp who initially denied knowledge of the account until changing her tune a couple of weeks later and confessing she took out the account in his name, Alvarez stated.

A $50,000 cash warrant bond was issued upon Sharp’s arrest.
