DUNCAN — An arrest warrant was issued Thursday for a Stephens County man accused of pilfering over $120,000 in cash and cell phones while working at AT&T.
The Stephens County District Court issued the felony arrest warrant for Bishop Kelly Taylor, 30, of Duncan, for a count of embezzlement, records indicate. The crime is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and up to $10,000 fine plus restitution.
Duncan Police Detective Jonathan Williams stated he spoke with the Duncan AT&T President Allie Dunn on July 25 regarding allegations the ex-employee had taken phones and money from the business for over a year, the warrant affidavit states. An internal investigation led to allegations he’d been pocketing cell phones and money over his year’s employment and video footage was turned over as evidence.
Dunn stated that after reviewing financial records, it was learned a total of $120,408.07 in cash and cell phones was taken by Taylor, the affidavit states. This included 148 trade-in phones that were missing or stolen, Williams stated.
During questioning, the investigator stated Williams denied the allegations.
