A former My Dentist employee is in jail accused of extracting just under $39,000 from the company by changing patient payments.
Michelle Lynn Halye, 46, of Geronimo, made her initial appearance Tuesday in Comanche County District Court where she received a felony charge of embezzlement, records indicate. The crime is punishable by up to eight years in prison, up to $10,000 fine and restitution.
Halye was employed by My Dentist, 2111 Cache Road, between Jan. 28, 2022, and Feb. 27. Over that time period, when cash payments were deleted, Halye is accused of either changing the fees at the same time, made professional discounts, miscellaneous credit adjustments or insurance adjustments to cover the deleted amount, the probable cause affidavit states.
While Halye was still employed, an internal audit and investigation of the losses were made, Lawton Police Detective Brandon Becker stated. The audit revealed $39,992.38 was embezzled, the affidavit states.
Halye received $1,000 bail. She returns to court at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 12 for her preliminary hearing, records indicate.
