The former treasurer of the Air Defense Artillery Association is free on $5,000 bond after he was charged using the association’s official bank card to misappropriate $7,762.05 in funds.
Reed James Bonebreak Doll, 36, of Geronimo, made his initial appearance Friday in Comanche County District Court where he was charged with a felony count of embezzlement, records indicate. The crime is punishable by up to five years in prison, up to $5,000 fine and restitution.
While serving as treasurer of the Air Defense Artillery Association — a private organization based at Fort Sill that supports air defense artillery soldiers, family members, retirees and veterans — Doll was entrusted with the association’s Fort Sill National Bank debit card, Lawton Police Detective Brandon Becker stated. Between April 17 and June 6, Doll is accused of making unauthorized purchases at Walmart, 1002 N. Sheridan, of $1,847.05, with $1,103 being from unauthorized ATM withdrawals, the probable cause affidavit states.
Investigators said there were several other unauthorized ATM withdrawals: at the USAA ATM, 34 N. Sheridan, totaling $4,115; and at the City National Bank ATM, 500 SW D, for $1,800, according to the affidavit. Security video showed the withdrawals, according to the detective.
The association’s secretary confronted Doll about the unauthorized purchases, Becker stated. Doll resigned from his position and turned over the card; he declined to speak with the detective, according to the affidavit.
Doll returns to court at 3 p.m. Dec. 3 for his preliminary hearing conference, records indicate.
