A Thursday night structure fire remains under investigation but the condition of an injured firefighter has been updated.
The structure fire began at 6:05 p.m. in the 1300 block of Southwest Tennessee Avenue. Assistant Fire Chief Kyle Nyhart said firefighters reported seeing heavy smoke and fire from all sides of the structure. At that time, all residents were outside of the home.
One person from inside the home was transported to a local hospital for treatment of cuts and smoke inhalation. Fire Chief Jared Williams said he didn’t have an update on that person but that it was expected he would be released from Comanche County Memorial Hospital.
A Lawton firefighter also was taken to the hospital for treatment after sustaining minor burns to one hand. Williams said the firefighter was treated and released.
The fire’s cause remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s office.
