Father of Lawton murder suspect wanted for January assault

The father of an accused murder suspect is wanted for what investigators called a brutal January assault by father and son.

The Comanche County District Court issued a felony arrest warrant Tuesday for Edward Joseph Lyon, 44, of Lawton, for a count of aggravated assault and battery and a misdemeanor count of assault and battery, records indicate. Due to two prior felony convictions, he faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the felony.

Edward Lyon and his son, Dominique Lyon, are accused of assaulting two men while playing darts on Jan. 13 at Red Dirt Reloaded Bar and Grill, 6425 Cache Road, according to the warrant affidavit.

The two victims spoke with Lawton Police Detective Clay Houseman, who was able to get security video from the venue.

The video showed Edward Lyon confront one of the men with Dominique Lyon standing to the side, Houseman stated. Dominique Lyon was seen turning his hat backwards and as a woman walked off, blind siding the man with “a brutal punch to the side of his face, knocking him into a high-top table,” the affidavit states. He was seen striking the man numerous times with Edward Lyon also punching the man unconscious. When the second victim tried to help the injured man from the floor, he said he was punched in the face by Dominique Lyon.

Dominique Lyon also was seen stomping the man in the facial area, fracturing the man’s facial bones before the fight was stopped and father and son were removed, according to the affidavit.

Records indicate Dominique Lyon has not been charged with this case, as of Tuesday afternoon. However, an arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for a felony count of first-degree murder – deliberate intent for the Sunday morning shooting death of Evan Jackson.

Edward Lyon has prior felony convictions in Comanche County from September 2011 for aggravated assault and battery, and from October 2019 for second-degree robbery, records indicate.

A $50,000 cash warrant bond was issued upon Edward Lyon’s arrest.
