A 23-year-old Edmond man is in jail after he was accused of having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl he met over an online app.
Investigators said he admitted to claiming he’s younger because he can’t get girls his own age.
Holden Clayton made his initial appearance in Comanche County District Court on Tuesday where he received a felony count of first-degree rape with a victim under the age of 14, records indicate. The crime is punishable by no less than five years in prison.
An arrest warrant had been issued for Clayton on Jan. 9.
The girl’s mother told Lawton police that between Aug. 4 and 6, 2023, her daughter had met with Clayton, whom she believed to be 16 years old and had sex, according to the probable cause affidavit. The girl had met Clayton through Whizz app and it was learned he was actually 23, Detective Justin Johnson stated.
The girl told investigators Clayton had driven to her neighborhood and she’d snuck out to meet him. She said he took her to a nearby canal where they had unprotected sex, the affidavit states.
Prior to police receiving the report of this case, Clayton had been picked up by Yukon police for similar allegations, Johnson stated. During an interview, Clayton said he sets his age up on apps as 13 or 14 years old to attract younger girls because he can’t get girls his own age, according to the affidavit.
Clayton has been free on a $150,000 bond for another charge of first-degree rape with a victim under the age of 14 in Logan County.
Held on $250,000 bond with the order he have no contact with the girl, Clayton returns to court at 3 p.m. March 4 for his preliminary hearing conference, records indicate.
