A working group from the Oklahoma Ethics Commission will meet in Lawton on Thursday to discuss new campaign finance rules.
The session will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in McCasland Ballroom A, in the McMahon Centennial Complex of Cameron University, 2800 W. Gore. RSVP are requested but not required and may be made by emailing [email protected].
The commission has designed the working group to address rule-making suggestions contained within Gov. Kevin Stitt’s Task Force Report on Campaign Finance and Election Threats.
Lawton’s session will center on cumulative reporting threshold, which includes consideration of an increase up to $15,000 in contributions from limited partnerships, limited liability corporations, tribes, PACs and other non-corporate entities; and unlimited transfers between political parties and their candidate. The task force also is recommending that Oklahoma increase its cumulative reporting threshold to $200, to align with the Federal Election Commission and “encourage a diversity of smaller contributors.”
The working groups are being held around the state to allow for greater participation by the public stakeholders, Ethics Commission officials said. Recommendations gathered will be brought back to the full commission for consideration.
