Epirus, a high-growth technology company, has opened a new office within FISTA Innovation Park, company officials said Tuesday.
The 3,000-square-foot space will host a team of full-time Epirus employees and serve as a multi-purpose collocation facility used for mission planning and high-power microwave (HPM) intelligence sharing, officials said. Earlier this year, Epirus announced the successful completion of U.S. Army-sponsored testing of its HPM systems for counter-drone and drone swarm effects.
Company officials called FISTA a leading center for technological advancement and home to the Joint C-sUAS University that is based in Lawton. In July, Epirus also commemorated the opening of a research location on the University of Oklahoma campus.
“We’re proud to be a part of FISTA and work with Fort Sill and U.S. Army leadership to accelerate the development of innovative counter-drone approaches,” said Epirus CEO Andy Lowery. “Epirus’ leadership in high-power microwave technology is a natural addition to Oklahoma’s pioneering position in drone and counter drone technology research and development.”
Oklahoma and Southwest Oklahoma legislators were elated by the news.
“Congratulations to the Epirus and FISTA teams on the opening of this new space. Epirus’ pioneering work in next-generation high-power microwave technology to counter unmanned systems is a welcome addition to Oklahoma’s growing innovation arena. With low-cost, attributable systems dominating modern-day conflict, I’m pleased to see FISTA and Epirus continue their work to develop best-in-class technologies to counter emerging threats,” said Fourth District Congressman Tom Cole, R-Oklahoma, chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.
“Oklahoma continues to put the ‘state’ in our state-of-the-art military. The FISTA Innovation Park in Lawton streamlines collaboration and enables the Army to utilize advancements to modernize our defense capabilities. This continued partnership is an exciting way to pioneer counter-UAS technologies to defend against threats America faces at home and abroad,” said U.S. Sen. James Lankford, R-Oklahoma.
“It’s great to be back at Lawton-Fort Sill’s FISTA and welcome Epirus to Oklahoma’s flourishing innovation ecosystem,” said U.S. Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Oklahoma. “I’ve long called FISTA a game-changing investment for the future of Southwest Oklahoma — and, with Epirus joining the FISTA community, I have no doubt our state will remain at the forefront of technology modernization for our military.
Epirus is a high-growth technology company dedicated to overcoming the asymmetric challenges inherent to the future of national security. Epirus’ flagship product, Leonidas, is a software-defined, solid-state high-power microwave system built using intelligent power management techniques which allow power-hungry systems to do more with less.
