ELGIN — Voters in Wards 2 and 4 will decide in the spring who will represent them on the Elgin City Council for the next four years.
The council voted unanimously Dec. 13 to call for a nonpartisan municipal election on April 4, 2023. Candidates must file their declarations of candidacy between 8 a.m. Feb. 6 and 5 p.m. Feb. 8 with the Comanche County Election Board office, located in the Comanche County Courthouse in Lawton.
Candidates must live in Elgin and be registered to vote in the ward where they live for at least six months before filing a declaration of candidacy.
The candidates who capture the most votes in the spring election will each serve four-year terms on the council.
Nettie Evans, who was appointed to the council earlier this year after former Councilman Eric Bradford stepped down, represents Ward 2. Sean Bateman represents Ward 4.
