Registered, eligible voters who want to cast early ballots in the Ward 7 Lawton City Council race may do so this week.
Polls will open Nov. 14 for the election, but voters in that ward also may cast in-person absentee ballots Thursday and Friday at the Comanche County Election Board, located in the Comanche County Courthouse at Southwest 5th and C. Voters will be choosing between current Ward 7 Councilwoman Onreka Johnson and her challenger, Sherene L. Williams.
A two-member, bipartisan absentee voting board will be on duty from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Although the courthouse will be closed Friday for Veteran’s Day, voters still will be able to enter the courthouse to cast ballots, election board officials said.
Residents won’t need to state a reason for voting early, but they must sign an affidavit pledging they won’t vote on election day. Voters must present their voter registration card or photo identification to receive a ballot. The race is limited to those who live in Ward 7, to include those in seven precincts: 11. Faith Bible Church, 1402 Parkridge Blvd.; 24. Faith Bible Church, 1402 SW Parkridge Blvd.; 25. Owens Multi-Purpose Center, 1305 S. 11th; 26. Immanuel Baptist Church, 1314 S. 11th; 33. First Baptist Church East, 3302 E. Lee Blvd.; 43. Flower Mound School, 2901 SE Flower Mound Road; and 45. Wesley Chapel Church, 12604 SW Woodlawn Road.
Information is available at the Comanche County Election Board Office, 353-1880.
