A two-day wrestling tournament will host over 1,000 young wrestlers from across the nation this weekend.
Duncan Youth Wrestling will present the Ring of Fire, Tournament Series 2, on Saturday and Sunday at the Stephens County Fairgrounds.
Tournament Director, Duncan Youth Wrestling Board Member and OK USA Event Director Tanya Rochell said the event is an OK USA Tournament for youth and is hosted by the Duncan Youth Wrestling Club in Duncan.
Rochell said they expect around 1,000-plus entries to compete in the tournament, which will bring in youth from six to 15 years old.
“This is our fourth year to host it,” she said. “It has escalated to one of the premier tournaments.”
According to Rochell, wrestlers will come to Duncan from across the nation, including states like Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Kansas as well as from across Oklahoma.
The two-day event will begin at 9 a.m. each day.
Remote weigh-in will take place from 6-6:30 p.m. Friday. Then, on-site weigh-in will take place from 7-7:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The cost to register for the tournament is $25 and the cost for spectators is $5.
Participants can register online at www.usawmembership.com through midnight on Thursday, Nov. 30.
Rochell said the Ring of Fire Tournament expects to bring good movement to Duncan, as well as to Stephens County.
The Stephens County Fairgrounds are located at 2002 S. 13th Street in Duncan.
