DUNCAN — A Stephens County man joins his girlfriend in being wanted by law enforcement for an August beating of a woman with an injured leg with her own crutch, as well as the theft of $20.
An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday in Stephens County District Court for Dusty Allen Wesley Walker, 19, of Duncan, for a felony charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon as well as a misdemeanor count of petit larceny, records indicate.
On Sept. 5, a felony arrest warrant was issued for Walker’s girlfriend, Grace Darlene Mathews, 20, of Marlow, for the same charges.
The victim and her grandmother spoke with Marlow police on Aug. 10 following the assault. The woman is disabled and on crutches from injuries received in a 2022 accident.
The woman said Mathews and Walker had picked her up to hang out. After getting $20 from her grandmother, they left to go driving around, the probable cause affidavit states. The situation turned dark when the woman asked to stop and get a drink.
After driving to the park, the women got into an argument that escalated when Mathews crawled from the driver’s seat into the back and began punching the victim, according to the affidavit. The wounded woman said she opened the back door and fell out before crawling outside.
The woman said Mathews got out of the vehicle, grabbed her crutches and hit her twice in her injured left knee, the affidavit states. When she threatened to call the police, she said Walker threatened to shoot her in the face and they took the $20. After thinking about the grandmother knowing who the woman was with, she said, the couple offered to take her home if she didn’t say anything.
The woman declined their offer and called her grandmother, who picked her up, took her home and called police.
The woman was taken to Duncan Regional Hospital and while there, Mathews messaged the woman on Facebook to say she would bring $10 of the $20 back; the other $10 had been used for gas, according to the affidavit.
Investigators said there was obvious denting to one of the woman’s crutches from the assault.
Neither Walker or Mathews are in custody, according to records. A $10,000 cash bond was issued upon their arrests.
