DEVOL — Driving under the influence was blamed as the cause of the Saturday night wreck in southern Cotton County that put a Grandfield woman in a Texas hospital in critical condition.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that Cheri E. Montes, 47, was flown to United Regional Medical Center and she was transferred to Fort Worth Medical Center and admitted in critical condition with head, arm and trunk injuries.
Montes was driving a Ford Ranger pickup westbound on U.S. 70 shortly after 11:15 p.m. Saturday when she ran off the roadway to the right and rolled an unknown number of times and struck a fence before coming to rest, 3 miles east of Devol, Trooper Zachary Johnson reported. She was wearing a seatbelt.
The trooper reported the driver was under the influence of alcohol/drugs and identified driving under the influence as the collision’s cause.
