DALLAS—Using a strong defensive effort and the running of Rico Dowdle, the Dallas Cowboys earned a tough 27-20 victory over the New York Giants Thursday in their annual Thanksgiving home game.
The Giants had stayed close, trailing 13-10 at halftime, but in the third quarter the Cowboys put together a good drive that was capped by a 2-yard pass from Cooper Rush to Brandon Cooks.
Not long after that a Giants’ fumble gave the Cowboys the ball at their own 30 and they proceeded to put together a nine-play drive capped by a 4-yard TD run by Dowdle. That came with 4:23 left in the third quarter and the Dallas defense made it stand up.
Dallas got the lead thanks to its defense when DeMarvion Overshown returned an interception 23 yards in the second quarter.
The Giants didn’t give up, scoring 10 unanswered in the 4th quarter to make it interesting.
