A Lawton couple are each in jail on $50,000 bonds for allegations of abusing the woman’s children.
Chad Eisha Cleveland, 27, and Ronald Melvin Holmes, 26, made their initial appearances Tuesday in Comanche County District Court where each received felony charges of child abuse and enabling child abuse, records indicate. Each count is punishable by up to life in prison.
Lawton Police Officer Jarek Fraysur was called to a Lawton elementary school March 26 after a 6 year old student arrived at school with multiple bruises to her face, the officer stated. The child’s mother, Cleveland, told school staff she’d bruised the girl’s lower back after spanking her, the probable cause affidavit states. Detective Sedona Warren arrived and she called in a joint response with DHS.
The girl told Warren that Holmes had bruised her as well as slapped her face, the affidavit states. DHS further interviewed the girl and her brother and Cleveland and Holmes were arrested.
As part of their bond conditions, neither Cleveland or Holmes is allowed contact with both children. They each return to court at 3 p.m. May 13 for their preliminary hearing conferences.
