The District 5 County Health Departments announced the upcoming Pool Operator Training (Pool School) in Lawton, Altus and Elk City.
According to a press release, the first Pool School for Comanche County will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 10 at the Comanche County Fairground Prairie Building, 920 S. Sheridan in Lawton. The second course for Jackson County will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 15 at Southwest Technology Center, Room 109, 711 W. Tamerack Road, in Altus. The final course for Beckham County will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 16 at Western Technology Center, Room 103, 301 Western Drive, in Elk City.
The release said the training is an opportunity for attendees to learn important information related to safe pool operations. Victoria Hovell, a public health specialist at the Oklahoma State Department of Health, will teach the course and share information regarding pool safety and maintenance.
“The training will provide pool operators with knowledge and skills helpful to the operation of pools,” Hovell said. “We welcome anyone responsible for the maintenance and safety of a pool to attend this class.”
A flyer included with the release said activities include: circulation systems, pool calculations, sanitizers, water balance, chemical dosage, safety, preventative maintenance, testing the pool water, troubleshooting and a Q&A.
There is no fee to attend the classes. Attendees are encouraged to pre-register for Pool School. Attendees are also instructed to arrive 30 minutes before the class starts and to bring a pencil.
