DUNCAN — Following Monday’s resignation of Duncan City Manager Kimberly Meek, an interim appointee has been made.
City of Duncan Mayor Robert Armstrong and councilmembers Gene Brown, Nick Fischer, Jimmy Peters and Patty Wininger met Wednesday evening and made the appointment of current Director of Human Resources Kenzie Wheeler to serve as Interim City Manager. She will work with Meek until her last day in office Nov. 27, according to Loisdawn Jones, City of Duncan information officer.
Armstrong stated he is pleased Wheeler agreed to this temporary role while allowing the council to conduct the search for the right fit at City Manager.
“We know Mrs. Wheeler’s background in law, her current knowledge of the city and her relationships with the directors of all departments made her the best candidate to fulfill the role and we thank her for doing so,” he said.
Wheeler thanked the mayor and council for the confidence in her abilities by making the selection.
“I am honored to continue working with the exceptional team at the City of Duncan as we strive toward making Duncan an
even better place to live, work, and play for all visitors and residents,” she said.
