A great way for people to get to know each other is through conversation over a cup of coffee.
It’s a concept the Lawton Police Department hopes can lead to understanding, camaraderie and better relationships with the public.
That’s why Lt. Charles Whittington, LPD information officer, thinks an upcoming event will be a great one. It’s called “Coffee with Cops” and it’s scheduled for 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Viridian Coffee Co., 343 NW 2nd.
“It has been a bit since we have done this one so we are hoping for a good turnout,” he said.
Whittington offered thanks to the venue for welcoming the officers and the public for the event. It’s another aspect of community-oriented policing. The goal is to let citizens view officers as regular men and women who are also a part of the community.
“Viridian is a great local company and we hope to have some great conversations and make some new friends and catch up with some old ones.,” he said.
