The City of Lawton will launch a new Online Bill Pay system Thursday, designed to make paying city bills faster and more conveniently.
The upgrade will mean the current online bill pay system will be unavailable, beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday, for the transition to a new system that will be live and fully functional on Thursday. City officials said they recommend making any urgent payments before Tuesday to avoid any inconvenience.
During the system downtime, the city’s utility services division will not be able to accept card payments (credit or debit) at their office or drive-thru kiosk. Payments will only be accepted via cash, check or money order during this period.
For Autopay Customers: If you are currently enrolled in autopay, payments will automatically switch over to the new system without any action required on your part. There should be no disruptions or issues for you during this transition.
For Online Payment Users: If you are currently paying your bill online, a new payment portal will be available and you will need to visit the new portal to complete payments. As part of this upgrade, all users will be required to set a new password for their online account for enhanced security.
Once the new system is live, the City of Lawton will offer a variety of new payment options, including PayPal, Venmo, ApplePay and GooglePay, in addition to credit and debit card payments. Paymentus, the new payment provider, will have a 24/7 customer service line available once the new system is live, city officials said.
