The City of Lawton is making plans for the holidays and that will affect some city services.
City offices and the municipal landfill will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Lawton Public Library will be closed Dec. 24 and 25, and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. Normal operations will resume the Tuesday after those Monday holidays.
In addition, LATS will not run its fixed routes Dec. 25 or Jan. 1. Normal routes will resume the Tuesday after each holiday.
The holiday schedule will affect residential trash collections as well. Residents in Area 1 (Monday collection day) will receive their service on Tuesday, Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. Residents in Area 2 (Tuesday collection day) will have their trash collected on Wednesdays, Dec. 27 and Jan. 3. Collections in Area 3 (Thursday collection day) and Area 4 (Friday collection day) will take place on normal collection days.
Area 1 residents also will be the first beneficiaries of a new collection schedule being established for curbside bulk collections. While Area 1 residents (who have their bulk debris picked up the first week of the month) will have their bulk debris collected on Tuesday, Jan. 2. All other areas will have their curbside bulk debris collected on Mondays, beginning in January. That schedule will replace what is now Wednesday start days for bulk debris, city officials said.
