The City Council will meet in special session today to receive training in bond disclosure requirements and to discuss candidates for city manager.
The meeting will begin at 2 p.m. in the auditorium of Lawton City Hall, Southwest 9th and C.
At issue is training that the council’s own policies requires from its disclosure counsel on responsibilities related to issuing bonds.
In addition, the council will act on a request from the Lawton Economic Development Authority for financial support to pay the salary of an executive director. LEDA signed off on the idea Tuesday, agreeing to split the cost of an executive director with the Lawton Economic Development Corporation. Tuesday’s action came with approval of the duties and other details of that position, which will allow that body to begin seeking an executive director, Chairman Fred Fitch said.
The council then will go into executive session to continue discussions of candidates for city manager. Officials said last week the council expects to begin setting up interviews with finalists, as they seek a replacement for former City Manager Michael Cleghorn.
