Accused of assaulting her 1-year-old son after getting high and having a bad dream as well as kicking a police officer, a Lawton woman is in jail on $100,000 bond.
Gina Lea Netkin, 26, made her initial appearance Tuesday in Comanche County District Court where she received felony charges of child abuse and assault and battery on a police officer, records indicate. The child abuse charge is punishable by up to life in prison.
Lawton police were called shortly after 9 p.m. Oct. 26 to an apartment at 2202 SW B regarding Netkin who told the dispatcher she “got high and had a bad dream and then accidentally hurt her baby,” the probable cause affidavit states.
After not getting an answer at the door, officers entered and could hear a woman screaming at the top of her lungs, Officer Richard Hackley stated. He stated he saw Netkin in the bedroom mounted on top of her 2-year-old child on the bed when he heard the 1-year-old girl crying and saw blood on her face, the affidavit states.
Hackley stated when he grabbed Netkin to get her off the 2-year-old, she rolled back, kicked him in the mouth and continued swinging her fist and yelling before being taken into custody.
Suffering swelling to the face and blood coming from her mouth, the 1-year-old was taken to a local hospital where she was admitted and treated for her injuries, according to the affidavit.
Held on $100,000 bond and ordered to have no contact with the 1-year-old, Netkin returns to court at 3 p.m. Jan. 7, 2025, for her preliminary hearing conference, records indicate.
