Cameron University’s 2025 Leadership Summit is sure to be inspirational when visual artist Richard Hight offers “The Art of Inspiration” at 9 a.m. April 11 in the Mary Lou and W. Carey Johnson Auditorium in Cynthia Ross Hall.
The summit will kick off with “Being Your Authentic Self,” presented by CU instructor Corey Sanders, according to a press release. Sanders will teach guests to be true to themselves even when it’s hard. He will teach them to be honest with themselves and others while living in alignment with their own values.
At 10 a.m., CU alumna Peggy Gaines will present “Growing in Confidence,” the release said. Guests will learn how to cultivate their self-confidence, tracing the root of the self-doubt, cultivating a positive mindset, embracing strengths and accomplishments, and building resilience and belief to tackle greater challenges. These actions can contribute to a greater sense of self-assuredness.
At 11 a.m. a panel featuring Young Professionals of Lawton will focus on “Leading by Example,” the release said. The panel will discuss the difference between a leader and a manager, as well as the qualities a good leader should have and ways to foster collaborative and positive relationships.
After lunch, Hight will present “The Art of Inspiration,” at 12:30 p.m., the release said. Overcoming challenges faced at a young age led Hight to learn valuable lessons about focusing on strengths and recognizing possibilities instead of limitations. His artistic gift allowed him to express his ideas while his successes built his confidence. From this, his mission emerged — “Vision, Focus, Grit!”
Hight’s impressionist approach to painting helps him successfully communicate with his audience, the release said. He wants the audience to focus on the artistic process, not the finished canvas. He shows that trusting creative impulses can yield surprising and beautiful results.
With his often humorous storytelling, Hight has entertained audiences around the world, the release said. During his interaction with his audience, he creates a stunning visual image. The vivid colors he selects, the broad flourishes that coalesce into a piece of fine art and the passion he possesses harmonize into an imaginative encounter that inspires and compels those present.
The 2025 Leadership Summit is presented by CU’s Office of Student Development with financial support from CU Lectures and Concerts. For more information, call (580) 581-2209 or email [email protected].
