Cameron’s men’s basketball team got scoring leadership from Aaron Jacob and Lavell Brodnex to help pull out a thrilling 89-85 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State University Wednesday.
The game saw 10 ties and 11 lead changes as both teams had success shooting the ball.
Jacob led the Aggies with 23 points on an impressive 90 percent shooting accuracy (9-of-10 from the field), including three three-pointers. Brodnex tallied 21 points, shooting 7-of-11 from the field and sinking 6 of 8 free throws.
Jarmell Johnson added 13 points, Reggie Prudhomme contributing nine points and Jaxon Ingram chipped in 16 points.
Cameron showcased its strength in the paint with 50 points scored and converted 16 second-chance opportunities. The CU bench also contributed 13 points.
Despite committing 19 turnovers, the Aggies compensated with a commanding 43-24 advantage in rebounds, including 13 offensive boards.
Cameron’s victory improves its record to 2-3 as the Aggies prepare for Lone Star Conference competition. The Aggies will battle Southwestern Oklahoma State University Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Aggie Gym.
Women fall at home
Cameron’s women’s basketball team hosted Southeastern Oklahoma State University Wednesday, falling by a 62-53 score in a non-conference battle.
Shamica Smith led the way with 13 points and nine rebounds and Madison Griggs contributed 10 points.
Cameron women once again had trouble finding then range, hitting 39 percent from the field, 20-of-51 attempts. They also had trouble scoring from long range, hitting just 3-of-12.
The CU women will hit the court Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the Aggie Gym facing Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
