A Caddo County man is in jail on $250,000 bond for allegations he set fire to an occupied building on June 6.
Charles Douglas Lacy, 25, of Apache, made his initial appearance Tuesday in Comanche County District Court where he received a felony charge of first-degree arson, records indicate. The crime is punishable by up to 35 years in prison and/or up to $25,000 fine.
Lawton Fire Marshal Brandon Want was investigating the June 6 fire at 201 S. Sheridan when he spoke with one of the witnesses. He told the investigator Lacy had gotten mad at him and a woman a couple of days before. He said Lacy told him that night they wouldn’t see him for a while before going into a back room, the probable cause affidavit states. The witness said he and the woman were asleep and awoke to the room next to theirs being on fire, Want stated.
Lacy was picked up and taken into custody. During an interview, he said he’d gotten mad and started the fire with a lighter, the affidavit states.
As part of his bond conditions, Lacy is to have no contact with the man and woman. He returns to court at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 11 for his preliminary hearing, records indicate.
