ANADARKO — Accused of abusing and neglecting a 1-year-old girl in his care, a Carnegie man is now in jail on $250,000 bond.
Jacob Michael Honeycutt, 24, made his initial appearance Tuesday in Caddo County District Court where he received felony charges of child abuse and child neglect, as well as a misdemeanor count of obstructing police, records indicate. Each felony is punishable by up to life in prison.
Fort Cobb Police Officer Jordan Amos stated he was called to the Thame Circle apartment complex Sunday evening regarding a child reported in bad condition. The child’s mother said she’d gone to see the 1-year-old girl and found her covered in bruises on her face and neck, the probable cause affidavit states. The officer confirmed the girl’s injuries and, following examination by EMTs, she was flown to an Oklahoma City hospital due to the severity of her injuries, Amos stated.
The woman said Honeycutt told her a day or two earlier the 1-year-old was going to have a black eye because a 2-year-old child had hit her with a plastic baseball bat, the affidavit states.
While the officer attempted to make contact, Honeycutt fled out of the back of the apartment, according to Amos. He was later found near Fort Cobb lake and arrested.
Honeycutt has a May 2020 felony conviction in Caddo County for a count of second-degree burglary and received a seven year suspended sentence.
A revocation conference for the prior conviction is scheduled for 11 a.m. Oct. 24, records indicate.
