Cache man wanted for additional child sex abuse charges

More charges were filed Thursday for a Cache man accused of an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old girl.

An arrest warrant was issued in Comanche County District Court for Jean Paul LaRue, 42, for felony charges of rape by instrumentation, lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16, and lewd or indecent proposals to a child under 16, records indicate. The rape charge is punishable by between five years to life in prison.

The charges follow an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) inquiry into the activities. The investigation into LaRue began Aug. 14, 2024, when Cache police requested the OSBI’s assistance looking into allegations of lewd or indecent proposals made to a minor, according to the OSBI. It was learned LaRue had engaged in inappropriate communications and had made physical contact with a minor on multiple occasions.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, LaRue is accused of carrying on a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl who was in his care at his Cache home, including giving her a burner phone so they could communicate without his wife’s knowledge. Some of the alleged activity happened in Carnegie, investigators said.

OSBI agents discovered 3,626 messages between LaRue and the girl via Instagram, including video chats, between July 20 and 27, 2024, and to include nude photos and explicitly sexual conversations, the affidavit states.

Charges were also filed in Caddo County District Court.

LaRue made his initial appearance Dec. 4, 2024, where he received felony counts of rape by instrumentation and two counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16.

LaRue has been free on $25,000 bond since Dec. 9, 2024, for that case and he is scheduled for a 9 a.m. March 14 preliminary hearing conference, records indicate.

A $300,000 cash warrant bond has been issued in Comanche County upon LaRue’s arrest.
