A Cache man accused of sexually abusing a now fifth-grade girl told investigators he had a problem with becoming sexually aggressive while drinking.
Byron Lynn Brewer, 32, of Cache, made his initial appearance Thursday in Comanche County District Court where he was charged with a felony count of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16, records indicate. He faces between three to 20 years in prison if convicted.
Cache police began investigating after the girl told her teachers Brewer had inappropriately touched her on several occasions, the probable cause affidavit states. She said he smelled of alcohol during several of the incidents.
Brewer told investigators he was aware that past female partners and children had reported he was physically violent and had a problem with alcohol use. When he was told the girl had said he smelled of alcohol when he abused her, he admitted it was a “possibility” he’d sexually assaulted the girl while drunk, according to the affidavit.
