Lawton building permits topped $9.1 million in June, with work at Central Plaza and roofs accounting for almost half their value.
Commercial permits totaled $5.725 million last month. Residential projects accounted for $3.469; of that, six permits for new single-family homes totaled $2.045 million. Unlike in previous months, most of the new homes are on Lawton’s east side.
The largest commercial permit — valued at $2.2 million — to replace the 80,000-square-foot roof at the Bar-S Foods plant, 802 SW Goodyear Blvd.
Two projects to remodel additional space at Central Plaza (formerly Central Mall), 428 SW C, for the FISTA (Fires Innovation Science and Technology Accelerator) totaled $1.15 million.
Other large commercial permits included:
•A $777,718 permit to replace the roof of Bible Baptist Church, 7501 W. Lee;
•A $400,000 permit to remodel 7,500 square feet at 6720 Quanah Parker Trailway for the new home of Sherri’s Dance Center;
•A $400,000 permit to install security fencing at Eisenhower High School, 5202 W. Gore;
•A $234,000 permit to construct a new 1,485-square-foot building in the office complex at 910 SW 38th for an Edward Jones financial adviser office and parking;
•A $155,932 permit to install a new roof at the Staples at 1217 N. Sheridan;
•A $139,000 permit for a drive-through ATM for City National Bank at the Walmart store at 1002 N. Sheridan; and
•A $60,000 permit for remodeling at Patterson Community Center, No. 4 NE Arlington.
