Champ Brewer hit a 3-point shot with 3.3 seconds remaining to lift Lawton High School to a tense 46-43 victory over Del City Tuesday in a critical district road game for the Wolverines.
Del City had taken a 43-42 lead with a free throw with 19.8 seconds remaining but LHS called time at 14.8 to plot a final play. Out of the break the ball wound up in the hands of Tavarius Deans who passed to Brewer near the LHS bench and he pulled the trigger and it connected and on the shot he was fouled.
Brewer calmly hit the free throw to cap the 4-point play. DC tried a long pass but a wild shot missed the mark and LHS started to celebrate. The Wolverines are now 14-1 overall and 5-0 in district.
Lawton High boys will have to get ready for Friday’s game against MacArthur at the Wolverines’ Gym. MacArthur boys earned a convincing road win over Noble, 77-46, as the Highlanders climbed to 6-3 overall and 3-0 in district.
