Jimmy Bomboy led area league bowlers with a 790 series and a story that will go in the ‘one that got away’ category.
Bomboy was bowling in the Tuesday Night Mixed league at Twin Oaks, Fort Sill, where he had found a line that gave up games of 265 and 278 for the first two and continued through game three where it came down to the first ball of the 10th frame for all the gusto.
And I do mean all of the gusto as Bomboy needed to strike the first ball of the tenth for the house jackpot as well as cinching an 800 series.
It was reported to be a beautiful shot, in fact, probably too good as a stone 10-pin stood staring, as only a corner pin can, denying Bomboy on all counts.
Bomboy finished up with a 247 game and walked away with the week’s high series of 790.
Jason Olnes made the honor roll with a 717 from the TNM on games of 236, 258 and 223 and Judy Lloyd topped the ladies high series list with her TNM scores of 225, 216 and 204 for 645.
Men’s high game came from the TNT at Thunderbird Lanes where Richard Jacoby put a 279 on the board to assist in a 712 for the night’s top set.
And Lil Johnson rolled a 237 closer in the His and Hers’ for the women’s Honor Roll high game.
There was one other high 700 last week, along with a bowler’s first 600 series, coming from the Early Birds league at Thunderbird Lanes where secretary Gary Sammons added the following high-lights.
“Antione Murphy was feeling dangerous as he once again rolled the highest career and first 600 se-ries of 604. Bowling off a 154 average, Murphy had games of 218, 160 and 226.
In addition, L. J. Bailey took top honors this week coming oh so close to the 800 mark with a super 769 on game s of 265, 257 and 247 and on the same pair, Ashley Rich converted a rare 3-5-7 leave.”
Youth
For the second week in a row Maddox Swietek led in the TBird Legends. This week’s high set of 548 was on games of 193, 187 and 168.
Peyton Smith was in the zone with 541 and Brayden Kaplan topped the high game list with a 210 opening game that led to a 519 for series.
Joseph Resler had the TBird HotShot high series of 350 that included a high game of 135 off a 112 average and the MiniShots added three more 100 games to their books.
Faith Brown rolled a 107, Henry Keithley rolled a 105 and Kovie Hicks rolled a 103.
