Eisenhower High School was evacuated Tuesday afternoon due to a bomb threat that was phoned in.
Students were evacuated at 12:15 p.m. from Eisenhower High in the 5200 block of West Gore Boulevard after a threat was called into the high school, according to Lynn Cordes, Lawton Public Schools executive director of communications.
A large law enforcement presence from the Lawton Police Department, Lawton Public Schools Police Department, Comanche County Sheriff’s Department and Fort Sill Law Enforcement secured entry to the campus and conducted a search. All students and staff were evacuated, Cordes said.
According to Lawton Public Schools, Eisenhower Middle and Eisenhower Elementary schools were put in a secure holding pattern. Students and staff were reported as safe.
LPS school buses were stationed in a strip mall parking lot about one block away from the high school campus. Eisenhower Middle School reported on its Facebook page around 2:30 p.m. that families were asked to pick up students at 3:15 p.m. Bus routes were reported to be at their normal schedules.
At 3:15 p.m., the all clear was given following a thorough search with K-9 partners, Cordes said.
“There was nothing found in the building,” she said. “We followed security protocols for the safety of our students and staff.”
Cordes thanks all the law enforcement for their collaboration and continued support as well as student families for their patience and cooperation.
