ANADARKO — An Anadarko man with multiple prior felony convictions is free on $7,500 bond after, police said, he attacked a family friend for pills and a Rolex watch.
Shenar Damon Tillis, 44, made his initial appearance Nov. 20 for felony counts of assault with the intent to commit a felony and attempted extortion, records indicate. Due to his prior convictions, he faces between 20 years to life in prison if convicted.
Tillis is accused of the June 28 incident at a home in the 600 block of East Main Street in Anadarko. Police received a tip a woman with an outstanding warrant was at another home and that she’d been assaulted by Tillis.
Officer Justin Taylor stated he arrived to find the woman suffering from a black eye, scratches around her neck and a knot on her head. A witness said she and the woman were asleep when Tillis came over and began beating the woman “really bad,” the probable cause affidavit states.
Taylor spoke with the injured woman at the jail. She said Tillis had been banging on the door before coming inside and started choking her while asking “where are my 50 pills and Rolex watch?” the affidavit states. After telling him she didn’t have either thing, she said, Tillis began choking her with his hands and a hoodie before punching and stomping on her head and ribs, Taylor stated. She said she briefly lost consciousness and said she knew Tillis as a “family friend.”
Tillis has prior felony convictions from Caddo County: September 1987, assault and/or battery with a deadly weapon and distribution of controlled dangerous substances with the intent to distribute; January 2025, convicted felon prohibited from carrying firearms; and May 2018, possession of controlled dangerous substances with intent to distribute, according to Oklahoma Department of Corrections records.
Tillis received a three-year sentence to serve with another three years suspended for the 2018 conviction.
On Tuesday, Tillis posted $5,000 bond for the latest charges as well as another $2,500 bond regarding the 2018 case, records indicate.
A revocation conference has been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Jan. 12, 2024, regarding the 2018 case.
