DUNCAN — An arrest warrant was issued Wednesday for a 25-year-old Duncan man for allegations he sexually abused an 11-year-old girl.
The Stephens County District Court issued the felony warrant for Cody Austin Raybrook for counts of first-degree rape of a victim under 14, lewd molestation of a child under 12 and lewd proposals to a minor, records indicate. The rape charge is punishable by between five years in prison to life without parole and, due to the charge, 85 percent of the sentence would have to be served before consideration for parole.
The investigation began April 24 when the girl’s mother reported her now-12-year-old daughter had received explicit photos from Raybrook. The mother told investigators she’d learned a week before there had been physical interaction between her daughter and the man in 2023, the warrant affidavit states.
Stephens County Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel Picazo stated he saw messages on the girl’s phone between her and Raybrook where the man asked her if she remembered sexually touching him. When she replied “maybe,” he returned the favor by sending a nude photo of himself, according to the affidavit.
The girl was interviewed on April 30 and she said she’d been “sexually abused last year when she was 11-years-old by Cody Raybrook,” the affidavit states. She cited more than one incident. She described him forcing her into sexual acts and “if she didn’t do that, he would do something horrible to her” while she was staying the night with her friends and he was there, Picazo stated. The girl said she felt “embarrassed and shocked” from what had happened.
A $100,000 cash warrant bond was issued upon Raybrook’s arrest.
