An armed robbery of another’s Pokemon card collection Monday saw a Lawton man make a court appearance Tuesday.
Francisco Saucedo, 52, made his initial appearance Tuesday in Comanche County District Court where he received a felony charge of second-degree robbery and misdemeanor charges of methamphetamine possession and driving without a valid license, records indicate. The robbery count is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
A man told police he’d been robbed of a black suitcase at gunpoint by a man he knew as “Frank” at 809 NW 53rd Street around 9 a.m. Monday. Police found the suspect vehicle at 2322 NW 46th and officers identified “Frank” as Saucedo, the probable cause affidavit states. Saucedo and another man carrying two boxes of Pokemon cards along with a backpack began walking east on Northwest Floyd Avenue, according to Lawton Police Detective Jeff McCoy. A look inside the car showed the suitcase in the back seat, investigators said.
The victim told police Saucedo had pulled into a neighbor’s yard, got out with a revolver in his hand and confronted him about stealing a cellphone. When he said he didn’t have the phone, he said, Saucedo demanded the suitcase and took it, the affidavit states.
A search warrant for Saucedo’s vehicle revealed .38 Special rounds inside the driver’s door, a Smith & Wesson .38 revolver between the driver and passenger seat, the black suitcase and two full box sets still in their plastic wrapping of Pokemon cards, according to the affidavit. A complete set of wrapped Pokemon cards can value between $975 to $5,000 on ebay.
When Saucedo was arrested, officers found a small amount of meth on his person and discovered he was driving with a suspended license.
Held on $30,000 bond, Saucedo returns to court at 11 a.m. Dec. 6 for his preliminary hearing, records indicate.
