Almost seven years after being charged with sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl, an Arizona man pleaded guilty.
On Wednesday, Anthony Aaron Manuel, 43, pleaded guilty in Comanche County District Court to a felony count of lewd or indecent acts to a child under the age of 12, records indicate.
Presiding District Judge Emmit Tayloe sentenced Manuel to a 25 year suspended sentence to be served consecutive with a federal sentence received in the U.S. District of Arizona.
Manuel was sentenced in November 2022 to a term of 54 months in prison followed by a life of supervised release for a federal charge of assault resulting in serious bodily injury, according to the Department of Justice.
Manuel, an enrolled member of the Gila River Indian Community in Arizona, shot a person once in the upper leg on Feb. 20, 2021 in that case. He had been free on $50,000 bond from the Comanche County Detention Center in September 2018
The Comanche County conviction followed allegations by the then-5 year old girl that Manuel had come into her room and touched her inappropriately.
Tayloe ordered that Manuel register as a sex offender and pay $4,332.37 in fines, fees and court costs.
