Leave it to veteran Anadarko coach Doug Schumpert to find a way to get his Warriors into the Class 4A State Tournament by beating Sequoyah-Claremore Saturday in a defensive struggle that went to overtime before the Warriors pulled out a 51-46 victory.
The ‘Darko boys were the last hope for the area teams as four other teams had bowed out Friday and during earlier games Saturday. Now Anadarko fans will wait for the OSSAA to announce the pairings for all the upper classes at the State Tournament.
Del City boys eliminated Elgin, 69-60, Friday night in the Class 5A West Area and Saturday afternoon Del City ousted Altus, 50-27, in the 5A West Girls Area.
Saturday evening Anadarko girls were unable to keep up with Glenpool, losing by a 51-37 score.
And in the 2A Area being contested at Chickasha High School, Apache boys saw their season end with a 41-27 loss to Hobart.
