ALTUS — A fatal collision between a pedestrian and a tractor-trailer rig at the Altus city limits Tuesday is under investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The collision between Terence J. Allen and a Freightliner driven by Darius J. Carrington happened shortly after 5:10 a.m. at the intersection of the four-lane, undivided U.S. 283 and Ridgecrest Road, Trooper Aaron Manney reported.
Allen, 35, of Altus, was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries.
Carrington, 28, of Lancaster, Texas, was not injured.
The condition of the driver and Allen at the time of the incident remains under investigation, Manney reported.
The roadway was closed for five hours following the incident to allow for initial investigation.
The cause of the wreck remains under investigation, according to the trooper.
