A private aircraft was forced to land on a highway east of Duncan Thursday.
A driver who witnessed the event said the aircraft landed on Oklahoma 7 just outside the city limits around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. He said troopers with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to the landing and stayed at the scene until the aircraft was hauled away to the Duncan Municipal Airport about 6 p.m. The airport is just southeast of the landing site.
According to media reports, troopers at the scene said the aircraft experienced engine failure. The pilot landed safely without incident on the highway because the pilot could not make it back to the airport.
Public information officials with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol did not respond to requests for information Thursday.
