Darcy Reeves receives Governor’s Award for Community Service

The executive director of the Chisholm Trail Arts Council was recognized for her dedication to the community Jan. 30 during the 45th Governor’s Arts Awards.

Darcy Reeves was among the 13 honorees recognized by Gov. Kevin Stitt, receiving the Governor’s Award for Community Service. Reeves has been executive director of the Chisholm Trail Arts Council for more than 10 years, and Duncan residents credit her with promoting the arts in Duncan and Stephens County. Officials said Reeves has brought for main programs to Duncan: Art Education in Schools, Arts Explosion, the Chisholm Trail Arts Council Art Gallery, and the CTAC live concert series.

Officials said she also is involved in the community in numerous other ways, bringing professionalism, experience, knowledge and enlightenment to every facet of her community involvement.

The governor’s selection committee selected 13 Oklahomans for awards this year, recognizing them during a ceremony at the State Capitol that featured performances by Edgar Cruz and the Ambassador’s Concert Choir. Rep. Brad Boles, R-Marlow, also presented Reeves with a certificate from Sen. Jessica Garvin, R-Duncan, in front of an audience that included more than 30 Duncan residents and family members supporting Reeves.

“Representing Chisholm Trail Arts Council and the Duncan and Stephens County area is an honor,” Reeves said in a statement. “I look forward to continuing to bring artistic opportunities and awareness to Duncan and the surrounding areas. I genuinely believe that great things happen when you surround yourself with great people. I could not make these programs successful without the great help from my board members and my committee members. I truly appreciate everyone I work with.”
