Retired Maj. John F. Mullins, Lawton author and retired Special Forces Ranger, will be the guest speaker at the meeting of Lawton Fiction Writers.
The meeting will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Lawton Fort Sill Arts Council, 1701 NW Ferris.
Mullins is the author of the Men of Valor series, published by Simon and Schuster, and the Apache County (Oklahoma) series, available on Amazon.
Mullins began his military career as an 18-year-old infantry soldier, then a paratrooper, and finally a Green Beret. He served four tours in Vietnam, earning two Silver Stars and several Purple Hearts. After Vietnam, he served missions in the Middle East and Central and South America before retiring.
Mullins’ Men of Valor series has received high praise from W. E. B. Griffin and J. C. Pollack, who state the stories of the Army’s Special Forces are action-packed, explosive, and written with the authority and conviction of someone who’s experienced combat action, according to a press release.
Mullins will speak on using his wartime experiences as the catalyst for his stories and his experience in writing the books.
